World number 139 Nicolas Jarry stunned third seed Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets on Tuesday to back-up a string qualifying campaign in Rio. The Chilean broke the top 40 on tour back in 2019 and there is no reason why he could not make his way back there at 27 years old, particularly on his favoured clay over the next few months. World number 76 Pedro Martinez is coming up to the anniversary of his maiden ATP title claimed at the Chile Open and he will face successive Chileans here in Rio after ousting the ailing Cristian Garin on Monday. 25-year-old Martinez beat Jarry in straight sets at the Kitzbuhel Open last summer in their only previous meeting but this looks like it will come much closer. The head-to-head record suggests backing Martinez to earn at least a set is the most sensible way to avoid picking a winner here but taking the same option for Jarry may prove the shrewd one given his result over Musetti. Take the Chilean to win at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
