THE PREDICTION
World number nine Grigor Dimitrov laboured to the first set against Monegasque wildcard Valentin Vacherot on Monday but he recalibrated well to come through comfortably in the end. The 32-year-old moved back inside the top 10 for the first time since 2017 after reaching a second Masters final in four months at the Miami Open final two weeks ago, finishing runner-up to Jannik Sinner as he did to Novak Djokovic at the Paris Masters in late November.
Dimitrov is an effortless all-courter at his best, a level he has been able to express sporadically in recent months, but this is no gimme against 24-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic, who ousted Marrakech champion Matteo Berrettini in comfortable straight sets on Tuesday. Kecmanovic is capable of much better tennis than his current deflated ranking of 66th suggests and he could be a serious threat after his confidence-boosting opener snapped a four-match losing streak. Dimitrov won their only previous clash in consummate straight sets three years ago but clay should level the playing field a little. Back Dimitrov to win outright.
TIP: GRIGOR DIMITROV TO WIN
