THE PREDICTION

World number 70 Miomir Kecmanovic played well to beat the Rio Open sixth seed Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets on Thursday, setting up an almost immediate rematch with Francisco Cerundolo after the Argentine beat him in three sets just last week at the Buenos Aires Open. 22-year-old Kecmanovic recently made the round of 16 at the Australian Open in a return to the kind of tennis he is capable of playing but he can be even better on clay, where he won his only ATP tour title to date at the 2020 Kitzbuhel Open. The elder Cerundolo brother beat Benoit Paire this week but away from Argentine crowds he may just lose an edge against Kecmanovic. Take the Serb to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable semi-finalists.
