MIOMIR KECMANOVIC VS DANIIL MEDVEDEV PREDICTION

World number five Daniil Medvedev did well to ride out a tough challenge by Dominik Koepfer on Monday, dropping the third of a four-set win over the German.

The 28-year-old stands to gain plenty of ranking points this fortnight if he can make a good go at Roland-Garros, having crashed out of the first round to Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round last summer, but the four-time Grand Slam finalist is far from his best on clay despite his improbable Italian Open title last May.

World number 57 Miomir Kecmanovic has lost each of his three matches to Medvedev in straight sets, including here in the third round in 2022, but the Serb is much better than his ranking suggests in these conditions. A four-set victory over in-form Thiago Monteiro is a great result on clay and he stunned Casper Ruud from a set down in Rome to prove, to himself more than anyone, what he can do.

Medvedev has developed a ‘lite’ game for clay in recent seasons but Kecmanovic, at his best, could take him to a decider. Back the Russian to reach the third round or consider a one-off on five sets.
