THE PREDICTION

This will be the third match of the season between world number 25 Botic van de Zandschulp and number 35 Miomir Kecmanovic, with their head-to-head record finely poised at a win apiece. 22-year-old Kecmanovic has rejected his pigeon-holing as a clay specialist this season with some serious form on hardcourts, with a run to the semi-finals of Los Cabos ended by eventual champion Daniil Medvedev last weekend, and he beat Van de Zandschulp on the surface at Indian Wells on his way to the quarter-finals back in March. Not to be outdone, Van de Zandschulp returned the favour with a three-set victory on clay at the Munich Open, reaching his maiden ATP tour final before an injury handed the title to his opponent Holger Rune. With Kecmanovic winning at least a set in both of their meetings this season, taking the Serb to do so here looks the sensible addition to an accumulator. Otherwise this could be a good candidate for three sets or at least a tiebreak in the match, with two of their five sets this season requiring one.
