The 32-year-old won the similar Montpellier Open back in 2021 but it would be a surprise to see him go on a deep run in Marseille as he continues to struggle with his form on tour, although it was injury that saw him miss out at the Australian Open. World number 69 Mikael Ymer should be targeting a first foray into the top 50 this season after an impressive few months last summer but a straight-sets victory over Radu Albot on Wednesday snapped a four-match losing streak running back to Adelaide 2. Ymer and Goffin met in the final of a Challenger event at the end of last month, with Goffin coming through the winner in straight sets. The Belgian will be well supported in Marseille but it would not be a surprise to see a reversal of their final in this rematch. Take Goffin to earn at least a set as the just-about likelier of two capable victors.
