MAX PURCELL VS TOMAS MACHAC PREDICTION
Max Purcell comes to Cincinnati and while he is taking part in the singles, it would be no surprise if the Australian has more focus on the doubles along with his partner Jordan Thompson. His singles form has been pretty average this year and he will certainly have a better chance of going deep this week in the doubles.
He meets Tomas Machac who is having better results this season and the Czech player is coming off defeat in the first round in Montreal albeit to finalist Alexei Popyrin. He had a good run in Miami at the ATP 1000 earlier this year on hard courts and that will give him confidence that he can do well especially with the draw he has been given.
This could certainly be one of the more unpredictable matches in this first round but we lean towards Machac who has the better pedigree and form in the singles.
