THE PREDICTION

28-year-old Martina Trevisan set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 27th at the start of this month after an incredible run to the semi-finals of Roland-Garros was ended by eventual runner-up Coco Gauff. The Italian had previously burst onto the scene with a run to the quarters in Paris back in 2020 and she won the first WTA title of her career at the Rabat Open on her favoured clay back in May. Fellow Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto has been enjoying plenty of success on the ITF circuit this season to earn a Wimbledon debut and she is still a relative unknown on the main tour at 21 years old. Trevisan beat Cocciaretto in straight sets earlier this season at the Lyon Open and backing the 22nd seed to win her first match at SW19 seems a reasonable move.
