21-year-old Jiri Lehecka set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 35th after a stunning run to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open back in January and he should break that against after making the second round in Paris. The Czech rising star has so far produced all of his bets results on hardcourts but a five-set victory over recent Madrid runner-up Jan-Lennard Struff is a very encouraging win indeed on Monday and he faces a kinder draw in the second round. World number 75 Marcos Giron is a solid all-courter capable of tennis much better than his current ranking suggests but he has struggled to match the bigger hitters on clay so far this year. A four-set victory over Hamad Medjedovic should really have come in three considering he handed the qualifier two bagels but it would not be a huge surprise to see this match go to four or even five sets.
