LUCA VAN ASSCHE VS FABIO FOGNINI PREDICTION
This match is very much a case of old guard versus the new as 20-year-old French player Luca Van Assche meets 37-year-old Italian veteran Fabio Fognini at the Goran Ivanisevic Stadium. Fognini will take confidence from a straight-sets win over Van Assche a Wimbledon just a few weeks ago and the Italian has kept busy by playing in Switzerland last week. He lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas last week but he will not be phased by that. Fognini is keeping busy right now and he will be hoping to go far once again this week.
Van Assche will be a different challenge on clay and that should make for a closer encounter than the one at Wimbledon. His form is not great coming into this though having gone out in the first round in the Swedish Open last week and Fognini should have enough in the legs this week to beat him once again.
