21-year-old Lorenzo Musetti set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 16th this week after a strong run to the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open last week backed-up his round of 16 exit at Roland-Garros. The Italian has looked so far so good on grass but world number 35 Ben Shelton beat J.J. Wolf in two tiebreaks on his tour debut on the surface on Monday to suggest he has taken well to the new challenge. 20-year-old Shelton is a pacey left-hander with a powerful serve and all the eagerness to close on the net required to thrive on grass. This should be a really entertaining first encounter between the two with plenty more questions than answers but back Shelton to earn at least a set with more of the tools required to succeed in these conditions.
