KATIE BOULTER VS ARYNA SABALENKA PREDICTION
British hope Katie Boulter finds herself in the round of 16 at the Canadian Open for the first time in her career after wins against Bernarda Pera and Beatriz Haddad Maia – the latter retiring early in the first set through injury. After crashing out in the first round of the Paris Olympics recently, the fact that Boulter has a couple of wins under her belt in Toronto is the perfect medicine.
Current Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka made light work of Yue Yuan in the second round, dropping just four games as she barely got out of second gear. The world number three is a former semi-finalist at this tournament and has to be seen as one of the favourites given that she produces her best tennis on hard courts.
Boulter can mix it with the top players on her day, and has indeed beaten Jessica Pegula – the reigning Canadian Open champion – on hard courts this year, but those days don’t come around too often. Sabalenka looked in ominous form against Yuan and looks capable of a deep run in Toronto.
