KAREN KHACHANOV VS THIAGO SEYBOTH WILD PREDICTION

Karen Khachanov faces a quick turnaround after his triumph in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday. The Russian enjoyed a fantastic week and capped it with an impressive win over Canadian Gabriel Diallo to pick up an ATP 250 title.

He comes to Vienna and will face off against Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild who has beaten him in their only previous meeting. They met at Indian Wells in the first half of 2024 and it was the Brazilian who won 6-1 7-4.

Seyboth Wild has come through two rounds of qualifying here and against solid enough opponents in Pablo Carreno Busta and Aleksandar Kovacevic. He won three matches in Antwerp last week before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas and he has been playing fairly well of late.

So much will depend on Khachanov’s condition and motivation coming into this match. It is just the kind of match he should be expected to win, but after the energy expended in Almaty, we can see a physical and emotional drop off for him here.

With that in mind, approach this one with caution. We would be somewhat tempted with the value that lies in Seyboth Wild in this one.
