JORDAN THOMPSON VS UGO HUMBERT PREDICTION
Jordan Thompson comes into the Cincinnati Open hoping to get back to winning ways after being knocked out in Montreal, albeit at the hands of Alexander Zverev. Thompson came to North America after Wimbledon and has had some good results including reaching the final in Atlanta before losing to Yoshihito Nishioka.
Thompson meets Frenchman Ugo Humbert who he was scheduled to play in Brisbane earlier this year but Humbert withdrew with injury so this is their first meeting.
Humbert arrived in Montreal last week and managed to beat Arthur Fils in the first round before being eliminated by Nuno Borges. That loss saw him lose two tiebreaks so there was little between the two players and his seven double faults proved costly. His all-round game is in good shape right now however and he will fancy his chances.
Humbert is favourite in the betting but the experienced Thompson will be just as confident. Looking at the odds, the value lies in Thompson but we just prefer Humbert to edge the win. Our play however is on this one going to three sets.
