THE PREDICTION

This is a potential once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one of world number 126 Katie Boulter and number 131 Jodie Burrage to win their maiden WTA tour title on Sunday. Both players have enjoyed some excellent results this week to pull within one win over snapping their respective career-high world rankings, with 24-year-old Burrage capable of breaking the top 100 for the first time with victory here whilst Boulter could move inside the top 80 for the first time. 26-year-old Boulter is yet to drop a set this week after an assured performance against a dogged Heather Watson on Saturday but Burrage has certainly endured the tougher run, stunning third seed Magda Linette on Thursday before ousting former world number 12 Alize Cornet in straight sets in the semi-finals. This is the pair’s first meeting at tour level but Boulter came back from a set down to win an ITF title in Canberra at Burrage’s expense back in January and she has looked the more solid this week despite Burrage’s heroics. Back Boulter to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors and leave the victor up to chance.
