THE PREDICTION

26-year-old Tommy Paul could set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 14th after reaching the third round with an impressive four-set victory over 2016 runner-up Milos Raonic. The American reached the round of 16 here last season before defeat to Cam Norrie but he changed the course of his career earlier this year by reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open, where he lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. World number 37 Jiri Lehecka also impressed in Melbourne with a first run to the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam at just 21 years old and he has reached the third round without dropping a set this week. The Czech conceded just six games to an in-form but clearly fatigued Francisco Cerundolo on Thursday but he has saved all four break point opportunities against his serve so far to look fierce competition here. Sets should go both ways in the first meeting between the two but Lehecka’s result over Cerundolo stands out the most. Take the Czech to earn at least two sets or take both players to win a set with at least one tiebreak in the match.
