JESSICA PEGULA VS ASHLYN KRUEGER PREDICTION

Jessica Pegula battled past potential stumbling block Karolina Pliskova in the round of 16, the American prevailing 7-5, 6-4 in a tough contest against the Czech. Pegula has something of a love affair with this tournament having lifted the trophy last year while she also claimed the Doubles title in 2022.

It’s been quite a dramatic tournament for Ashlyn Krueger as she was on the verge of going out in her first qualifying match last Sunday to Priscilla Hon. However, the 20-year-old came through that test and has won a further three matches in Toronto, most notably defeating 15th-seed Leylah Fernandez in the second round.

The American pair met at Wimbledon this year with Pegula a comfortable victor on that occasion (6-2, 6-0). However, given the manner of Krueger’s victory over Canada’s very own Leylah Fernandez yesterday, she is likely to give a better account of herself here. It is unlikely to be enough to topple her compatriot though, as Pegula – the reigning champion – has reached at least the semi-finals on all three of her appearances in this tournament.

JESSICA PEGULA VS ASHLYN KRUEGER TIP: JESSICA PEGULA TO WIN 2-0
