JESSICA PEGULA VS AMANDA ANISIMOVA PREDICTION
Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova meet in the final of the National Bank Open and they have met on two previous occasions. It was Pegula who won both of those encounters including one earlier this year in Charleston that she won in the three sets.
Pegula has been the standout player all week in Toronto. The 30-year-old is playing some outstanding tennis and she has yet to drop a set all week. Her win over the in-form Diana Shnaider was another example of just how well she is playing and she largely looked comfortable in the 6-4 6-3 win. Her form this week combined with her record over Anisimova will give her plenty of confidence to seal this title.
Anisimova has been on fire this week knocking out seed after seed. The latest and fourth seed she knocked out was Emma Navarro in the semi-finals as she edged a three-set clash on Sunday night. This is unquestionably the biggest final she has reached as her previous three were WTA 250 events so she will be desperate to get her hands on this one.
There is every chance that Anisimova will push Pegula all the way here and three sets would be no surprise. Despite her form though, Pegula has just been a class above everybody this week and we expect her to lift the title.
