JANNIK SINNER VS FRANCES TIAFOE PREDICTION
World number one Jannik Sinner has made it through to his fifth ATP Masters 1000 final and he will be looking to make it a third title after previously winning the Miami Open earlier this year and the Canadian Open in 2023.
Sinner had to come through an incredibly tough semi-final against Alexander Zverev which he had to show all of his skill and determination to win in a match that he was marginally second best for long spells. Despite that, he still managed to produce at key moments, none more so than in the final set tiebreak.
The biggest concern is around his ongoing hip pain that he was suffering from once again in the first set against Zverev. That seemed to be more prevalent early in the match but he seemingly managed it better as he loosened up over the course of the match. That could well see him impacted once again and it would be no surprise if he starts slow with that in mind.
He faces Frances Tiafoe who has reached his first ever ATP 1000 final. The 26-year-old American has enjoyed a fantastic week overcoming a series of quality opponents. Starting with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, he has gone on to beat Lorenzo Musetti, Jiri Lehecka, Hubert Hurkacz and then Holger Rune in the semis.
Tiafoe’s confidence will be sky high and he has nothing to lose in this match against the world number one and top seed. He can play without pressure but will also know this is a golden opportunity for him.
They have met four times previously with Sinner having won three of those matches. Tiafoe has beaten him once and he can take something from that.
This match feels something like the Zverev match whereby there is value on Sinner’s opponent and it may be worth trading it in-play, but it will be no surprise to see Sinner dig deep and get the win ultimately. The Sinner/Zverev match was laden with errors by both players and it may be Sinner has to play better here to win, but he is capable of that. Tiafoe can make this competitive but Sinner should get the win.
