JANNIK SINNER VS ANDREY RUBLEV PREDICTION
Jannik Sinner was handed a walkover in the round of 16 as opponent Jordan Thompson withdrew so he moves into the quarters to face Andrey Rublev. The pair met last week in Montreal and Rublev upset the world number one 6-3 1-6 6-2. That takes their head-to-head record to 5-3 in Sinner’s favour.
Sinner will possibly not be aided by the walkover as he adjusts to the speed of these hard courts which has caused some issues for players including Carlos Alcaraz. There will be no doubting his motivation however.
Rublev is playing well right now and has been in cruise control in straight sets wins over Zhizhen Zhang and Brandon Nakashima. He will be desperate to get another win over Sinner and he is a dangerous opponent.
Rublev has had plenty of time on hard courts since Wimbledon and he is playing well. The same cannot quite be said for Sinner and there have been concerns over his fitness. He will want to bounce back from last week’s loss but that may not be so easy. The value is on Rublev here but our preference is on over 2.5 sets.
