THE PREDICTION

21-year-old Jack Draper is through to the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for the first time after beating Michael Mmoh in four sets on Saturday, backing-up an excellent straight-sets result over 17th seed Hubert Hurkacz. The Brit set a career-high ATP world ranking of 38th earlier this season before succumbing to another spate of unfortunate injury issues but when he finds some respite on court the powerful left-hander displays all the hallmarks of a future top 10 star. World number eight Andrey Rublev leads Draper 2-0 in their head-to-head to look one step too far at this moment in time but the Russian is well capable of getting dragged into four or five sets if he does not try to take Draper’s legs out early. 25-year-old Rublev is one match away from making the quarter-finals at the US Open for a fourth time but he has dropped sets in each of his last two wins over Gael Monfils and Arthur Rinderknech to display a little fragility.

Draper looked desperate to avoid a fifth set against Mmoh on Saturday and it would be a herculean effort for him to win a fourth match on the spin after playing very little tennis over the last few months. Sets should go both ways here but back Rublev to come through outright.
