THE PREDICTION

29-year-old Danielle Collins moved back up to world number 34 this week after an excellent return to form in Montreal last week was ended in three sets by Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals. The former world number seven is very much the sort of player motivated by revenge and she will be desperate to prove herself on home soil in Cincinnati after an assured opener over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. World number one Iga Swiatek was upset by eventual Montreal champion Jessica Pegula in three sets in the semi-finals last week in a campaign that saw three three-setters – a rare thing indeed for the usually uber-efficient Pole. Swiatek leads Collins 3-1 in their head-to-head but there is a real chance of an upset here if she does not up her level from a sub-par campaign last week. Taking Collins to earn at least a set could well be the shrewd move here but otherwise take Swiatek to win outright
