THE PREDICTION

World number eight Hubert Hurkacz has looked assured so far as the top seed this week in Marseille, beating two up-and-comers in straight-sets apiece to set up an intriguing rematch with Ugo Humbert. The Pole beat Humbert in four tight sets in the third round of the Australian Open last month, en-route to a well-fought five-set exit to eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals, and this match should come just as close with the crowd firmly behind a rising star of French tennis. 25-year-old Humbert is the French number two but the clear player set to usurp Adrian Mannarino at one sooner rather than later and perhaps the most talented male player of his nation since the glory days of Gael Monfils and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

A straight-sets victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Friday says Humbert is ready to take this match all the way but Hurkacz has won all three of their previous encounters to remain the favourite. There has been a tiebreak in each of their three previous encounters, so consider taking Hurkacz to win at least a set and adding at least one tiebreak to guard against home advantage here.

TIP: HUBERT HURKACZ TO WIN A SET (AND OVER 0.5 TIEBREAKS)
