HUBERT HURKACZ VS DENIS SHAPOVALOV PREDICTION
World number 118 Denis Shapovalov came back from a set down to beat fellow outof0sorts former number 10 Frances Tiafoe on Thursday, backing-up a solid opener over Luca Van Assche. The powerful left-hander meets a powerful right-hander here in world number eight Hubert Hurkacz, with the pair set to have an ace-off between two of the most explosive serves on tour.
27-year-old Hurkacz is probably the less comfortable on clay, despite making vast improvements in that area this swing so far, but he did well to come back from a set down to out Brandon Nakashima on Wednesday and he will be the better rested of the two.
Hurkacz leads their head-to-head 4-1 but this first meeting on clay should level the playing field a little and their last encounter went to five sets at this stage of the Australian Open last season. Back both players to win a set and add at least a tiebreak in the match, with at least one played in each of their last two meetings.
