HOLGER RUNE VS QUENTIN HALYS PREDICTION
Having lost the first set against Thiago Seyboth Wild in Thursday’s second-round encounter, Holger Rune rallied and found another gear in winning the next three sets with minimal fuss, and that will stand him in good stead here. The Dane had lost at the first time of asking at Queen’s in his only grass-court preparation for SW19, so he’ll be feeling a lot better about his game as he looks to reach the second week at Wimbledon for the second year in a row.
Quentin Halys, whose game is undoubtedly suited to grass, has already matched his run to the third round last year, but he has had to do it the hard way having come through three rounds of qualifying to even reach the main draw. He produced a sensational display to outlast 21ST seed Karen Khachanov in the second round though, requiring all five sets to do so, and only time will tell will how much that battle has taken out of him.
Both players are big servers and hit 40 aces between them in their respective second-round victories, so the outcome of this match could very well come down to who gets into a better rhythm on their return. Given the serve-dominant manner in which this match might play out, there is reasonable value to be had in this match containing at least two tie-breaks.
