HOLGER RUNE VS NOVAK DJOKOVIC PREDICTION
Holger Rune enters this fourth round encounter with Novak Djokovic on the back of a dramatic five-set win over Frenchman Quentin Halys where he had to fightback from two sets down. The talented Dane will not be afforded the luxury of starting that slowly against Djokovic and getting away with it so he really will have to start much better in this one.
He can take some heart from his previous record against Djokovic as he has won twice in five matches against him. Those came at ATP 1000 events in 2022 and 2023 and interestingly in all five matches they have played, both players have won at least a set regardless of who won the match.
Djokovic started well in the first round losing just five games against Vit Kopriva but as the level of opponent has improved, he has struggled to a degree. He dropped sets against both Jacob Fearnley and Alexei Popyrin uncharacteristically and that does not bode well for facing Rune who is 15th seed and significantly better than any of his previous three opponents. Of course, Djokovic may be able to up his game but we have some serious question marks over his sharpness right now. Rune can win a set as a minimum but we would not rule out the Danish 21-year-old springing a surprise upset in this one.
