HOLGER RUNE VS GIOVANNI MPETSHI PERRICARD PREDICTION
Denmark’s Holger Rune is finding some of his best form this week in Basel and with that, his confidence is understandably improving. His comfortable win over Daniel Goffin in the quarter-finals will have particularly pleased him especially with how the veteran had been playing this week. Rune made it look relatively straight forward as he won 6-2 6-4 and dominated in all areas.
He now faces Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard who is playing some superb tennis this week. He has shown his ability to blast his opponents away but the manner of his win over Denis Shapovalov in the quarters was particularly impressive. He still smashed an incredible 27 aces during that match but he is doing enough in his return game to win matches. If he can do that, then he will take some beating.
It will be interesting to see how Rune goes against him here and he will have to improve his first serve percentage of 54% from his quarter. He did however only conceded two break points against Goffin who is a good returner so it is hard to see Mpetshi Perricard generating too many.
All that suggests another long match featuring tiebreaks. We marginally favour Rune to have the quality to be able to generate some chances to break Mpetshi Perricard but ultimately, our play here is on games and over 23.5.
