HENRI SQUIRE VS FELIX AUGER-ALIASSIME PREDICTION
23-year-old Henri Squire beat Max Purcell 12-10 in a deciding tiebreak to claim his first ever tour-level win on his Grand Slam debut. The qualifier will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 182nd for his efforts so far but this should be too steep of a challenge against Felix Auger-Aliassime, whose form on clay has been hugely surprising this swing.
The Canadian, also 23, moved back up to world number 21 after a remarkable run to the Madrid Open final earlier this month, where he stunned Casper Ruud in straight sets and took the first from Andrey Rublev before finishing runner-up to the Russian.
A straight-sets victory over Yoshihito Nishioka on Monday says Auger-Aliassime is dialled-in and ready to be a factor at Roland-Garros, where he famously took Rafael Nadal to five sets two years ago, and despite Squire’s momentum this should be a tight straight-sets win for the 21st seed.
