GRIGOR DIMITROV VS ALEXEI POPYRIN PREDICTION
Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov showed that he has fully recovered from the adductor injury that forced him out of Wimbledon in his demolition of Rinky Hijikata 6-1 6-0 in the second round.
As poor as Hijikata was, Dimitrov was outstanding and that was just the type of match he needed on his return from injury to get back into the swing of things. As long as the 33-year-old’s body holds up, Dimitrov will be a force this week in Montreal on the hard courts which he loves.
He now faces Alexei Popyrin who is enjoying a good week so far having overcome Tomas Machac and Ben Shelton – both in straight sets. Popyrin’s serve has been a key reason behind his success so far this week but facing Dimitrov marks a major step up in quality.
Assuming Dimitrov suffers no physical setback, the Bulgarian should have far too much quality for Popyrin and should move into the quarters.
