GAEL MONFILS VS ADRIAN MANNARINO PREDICTION

After missing the last few years at Wimbledon, veteran Gael Monfils returns and he will be eager to put on a show against fellow Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. Monfils played on grass in Mallorca last week and looked in good shape before losing in the semi to eventual winner Alejandro Tabilo. He can take confidence from his record against Mannarino having beaten him in four of their five meetings.

While Monfils has won the last four encounters with Mannarino, it is Mannarino who won their only previous meeting on grass albeit back in 2018. That will hearten Mannarino however his form in 2024 is pretty abysmal. The left-hander is struggling this season and despite entering two grass tournaments in the last couple of weeks at Queen’s and Mallorca, he was knocked out in his first game at both events.

Monfils remains something of an enigma and it is difficult to rely on a consistent level of performance from him. The crowd will firmly be in his camp for this match and that should help him get through to the second round.
