World number 29 Frances Tiafoe maintained his promising form at the Atlanta Open with a straight-sets victory over Brandon Nakashima. The 24-year-old can set a new career-high ATP world ranking to match his age if he reaches the final here and he is well overdue a second title on tour, with his first coming four years ago at the Delray Beach Open. The winner of the Atlanta Open is likely to come from this semi-final after world number 43 Jenson Brooksby defeated the reigning and record-holding champion John Isner in three sets. 21-year-old Brooksby is a really exciting young talent in American tennis and there was more than a sense of a guard-changing on Friday as he and the likes of Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz and Sebastian Korda look to pick up the mantle. This should be a thriller late on Saturday between two showmen with entertaining games and three sets seem likely. Taking that option instead of siding with a winner seems a reasonable risk here but otherwise back Brooksby to win at least a set as the winner of their only previous meeting almost a year ago in Washington.
