FLAVIO COBOLLI VS PAVEL KOTOV PREDICTION
It has been some 2024 for Flavio Cobolli and the talented young Italian will be keen to end the year in style. The 22-year-old beat Alexander Bublik in three sets in the first round and had come from a set down to beat the number eight seed.
Cobolli is well-rested coming into this tournament with his last matches coming in the Davis Cup over 2 weeks ago. He played well in his first-round match but has plenty of room for improvement and will know he needs to raise his game for this round of 16 clash with Pavel Kotov.
Kotov has come through two rounds of qualifying and had to beat local favourite Zhou Yi in the first round. He lost the first set in that match but came back to win the second and third and progress. However, there was very little between the two players in that match, and Kotov has to make significant improvements if he is to beat Cobolli here.
We strongly favour Cobolli to get the win in this match. Even though he was not at his best in the first-round match, he is still playing levels above Kotov. We fully expect him to win in straight sets and progress to the quarter-finals.
