THE PREDICTION
This is one of the more surprising ATP tour finals in recent times as 21-year-old Luciano Darderi, in only his third tour-level campaign, takes on qualifying world number 207 Facundo Bagnis. Darderi will break inside the top 100 on tour for the first time after stunning defending champion Sebastian Baez, who knocked him out of the Cordoba Open 12 months ago, in three sets on Saturday whilst Bagnis maintained his impressive spotless streak as victory over Federico Coria saw him reach the final without dropping a set. The Cordoba crowd will get fully behind perennial underdog Bagnis as the 33-year-old targets a maiden ATP title in his second ever final on tour but Darderi’s run has won the Italian plenty of favour with neutrals this week. A first meeting between the two is incredibly hard to call given the pressure on Bagnis’ shoulders but the Argentine has made it this far without dropping a set to suggest taking him to earn at least one is the sensible way to avoid a result here.
TIP: FACUNDO BAGNIS TO WIN A SET
