FABIO FOGNINI VS ALEXANDER BUBLIK PREDICTION
Veteran Fabio Fognini has had to come through two rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw and he will be in good spirits after two good results. He beat Fabian Marozsan in straight sets and then came through a three-set battle with Frenchman Arthur Cazaux on Sunday. Two excellent wins against two good players so he will be confident coming into this match with Bublik.
He has faced Bublik once before in 2023 and that also took place in France. Fognini won that match 4-6 7-6 7-6 in Metz and that will give him yet more confidence.
Bublik is coming off yet another retirement from a match as he withdrew from his match in Basel against Botic van de Zandschulp when losing 6-3 4-6 0-4. He has become somewhat famed from just walking in his matches when things are not going his way and it is unlikely to be an injury given the fact he is playing in Paris.
Bublik’s form has not been great of late and he has not won a match in over a month. Hot on the heels of another withdrawal, it is hard to make a case for him here. Fognini will have good confidence and he is the one to lean towards in this one and offers good value.
