THE PREDICTION

World number two Aryna Sabalenka beat the noise on Monday with a solid straight-sets win over Emma Raducanu, building on a choppy fight back from a set down to Peyton Stearns in her opening match. The 25-year-old successfully defended her Australian Open title in January but she has struggled to settle back into tour life since, understandably, with an early exit in Dubai last month coming as quite the shock. This is no gimme for the Belarussian as she will have to play the villain of the piece once more against home hopeful Emma Navarro, who stunned Elina Svitolina in three sets on Monday to set the WTA lead for wins (17) this season. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant surge up the WTA rankings since last summer, with a new career-high of 20th achievable if she can cause an upset here, but Sabalenka looked a lot more resolute against Raducanu to suggest she is ready to challenge for the title this weekend. Straight sets should do it but underestimate Navarro’s momentum at your peril. Take Sabalenka to win outright.

TIP: ARYNA SABALENKA TO WIN
