EMMA NAVARRO – First round of 16 at a Grand Slam
23-year-old Emma Navarro will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 17th after an incredible shock win over in-form compatriot Madison Keys on Saturday, beating the Strasbourg champion in two tiebreaks. The American enjoyed a rapid rise up the rankings from last summer through to her maiden WTA title at the Hobart International this January but she has struggled to find her feet on clay until this campaign.

World number two Aryna Sabalenka beat best friend Paula Badosa in straight sets on Saturday to pass a significant test on clay. The 26-year-old has reached at least the semi-finals in each of her last six Grand Slam campaigns to prove the most consistent performer at this level on the WTA tour, although Roland-Garros remains her only major in which she has reached the quarter-final stage on just one occasion.
Sabalenka finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek at both Masters events in Madrid and Rome to set a course for an explosive rematch this weekend.
