THE PREDICTION
World number 11 Daria Kasatkina finished runner-up to Madison Keys at the Eastbourne International last month but she has struggled to find that consistency since, losing three matches she should have won against Victoria Azarenka, Jasmine Paolini and Elina Svitolina to exit her last three tournaments. The 26-year-old has endured a really odd season on tour with two runners-up places and a strong clay swing counteracted with some quite inexplicable exits across 2023 and it will be interesting to see what she can do on the hardcourt swing. World number 29 Elise Mertens reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros back in June but she has claimed just one win since, losing three of her last four including last time out to Kasatkina in Washington. The pair have a win apiece this season with Mertens taking their Miami match in three sets but Kasatkina leads their head-to-head 5-2 to look the reasonably solid favourite. Back the Russian to win outright.
