ELENA RYBAKINA VS ANNA KALINSKAYA PREDICTION
Elena Rybakina is coming into this match following the demolition of Caroline Wozniacki as she lost just one game en route to the round of 16. It was one of the most dominant displays seen so far in the women’s tournament this year but it will mean nothing if she cannot follow it up here. That victory along with a number of other seeds being knocked out, sees Rybakina become the favourite for the women’s title.
She now faces Anna Kalinskaya who will be no pushover and will surely present a greater test than Wozniacki managed. The 25-year-old has won all three of her matches in straight sets against Panna Udvardy, Marie Bouzkova and then 15th seed Liudmila Samsonova in the third round. The 17th seed will have to step up another level if she is to progress here against Rybakina.
Previous meetings between the two suggest there is very little separating them. They have won two of their four meetings apiece and one of those for Rybakina was a walkover after Kalinskaya was forced to withdraw. She can push Rybakina all the way here and this could be much closer and competitive than many expect. We favour Rybakina in three but prefer the over 2.5 sets for the safety factor in case Kalinskaya does pull off the upset.
