DOMINIK KOEPFER VS DANIIL MEDVEDEV PREDICTION
World number five Daniil Medvedev suffered a shock defeat to Thiago Seyboth Wild at this stage of Roland-Garros last summer but, as he has often assured, clay is not his favourite surface. The 28-year-old caused a shock of his own with an unlikely run to the Italian Open title this time last year, stunning Holger Rune in the final, but he has looked a little less malleable on the surface this time around.
World number 67 Dominik Koepfer reached the quarter-finals of the Lyon Open this week to bring some solid form into Paris, upsetting top seed Ugo Humbert en-route, but the German has lost each of his three previous meetings with Medvedev.
Koepfer’s best run of the season was ended in straight sets by Medvedev in the last 16 in Miami back in March but this first encounter on clay will certainly be the German’s best chance at revenge in conditions that suit him best. Sets should go both ways here but back Medvedev to find a way through.
