In an all-American third round battle, Jessica Pegula got the better of former grand slam winner Sofia Kenin and is one win away from equalling her best ever finish in the US Open women’s singles competition. Pegula played real clutch Tennis, especially in the first set tie-break against Kenin and she’ll likely need to repeat that feat in this next match.

The incredibly talented 20-year-old Diana Shnaider is in the round of 16 for the first time in any grand slam singles tournament, but it certainly won’t be the last time. Like Pegula, she has yet to drop a set at this tournament so far but the USA star has beaten her in their one previous singles encounter. Having never reached this stage before, that lack of experience could count against Shnaider and with the home crowd no doubt right behind her, backing Pegula to win has to be favoured.
