DENIS SHAPOVALOV VS BRANDON NAKASHIMA PREDICTION

Things are never quiet when Denis Shapovalov is around and the talented yet often controversial Canadian is coming off a default at the Citi Open last week when a bust-up with a spectator led to him receiving the punishment. He had been enjoying a good week up until that point getting through three rounds and his clash with Ben Shelton was incredibly close at 6-7 6-6 when the incident occurred.

Much will depend on how much that has impacted him psychologically but Shapovalov should take some positives from his performances last week. Prior to that, he had been wildly inconsistent in 2024 but at least he appears injury-free.

He faces 23-year-old American Brandon Nakashima who has come through qualifying to reach the main draw. Nakashima had a good showing at Wimbledon reaching the third round but his record at Grand Slam events at ATP 1000 events is 8-18 and Shapovalov should have too much quality for him here.
