DARIA KASATKINA VS YULIA PUTINTSEVA PREDICTION
27-year-old Daria Kasatkina has been in some mixed form of late but she showed great resilience to get through her round of 16 match on Wednesday. After losing the first set to Katerina Siniakova, she responded in style winning the next two sets and progressing to the quarters.
She now faces Yulia Putintseva who she has played twice before. She won their first meeting at Wimbledon in 2018 but it was Putintseva who their last meeting earlier this year. That came on clay in Madrid as Putintseva won in three sets.
Putintseva has been much more comfortable in her two wins so far in Ningbo beating Caroline Dolehide 6-2 6-0 and then Ella Seidel 6-4 6-4. She is playing some pretty solid tennis right now and she will fancy her chances in this one.
There really is little to separate the two players in 2024 but we marginally prefer Putintseva based on her recent performances. She is just playing the better tennis and barring Kasatkina raising her game notably, Putintseva has the quality to get the win and move into the semis.
