THE PREDICTION

25-year-old Daria Kasatkina won the fifth WTA title of her career at the Silicon Valley Classic on Sunday, coming back from a set down to beat an impressive Shelby Rogers. In doing so, the Russian reached single-digit figures in the WTA world rankings for a first time having first broken the top 10 back in 2018. Former world number four Bianca Andreescu is in a similar position to the likes of Naomi Osaka and Andy Murray, desperately trying to claw her way back into the seeds for tournaments to avoid opening clashes like this. The Canadian won the Canada Masters in her incredible, breakthrough 2019 alongside Indian Wells and her remarkable US Open at just 19 years old but three years on is she is seeking fitness long enough just to stay on the tour for a significant period. This could be the match of the round, perhaps the tournament, if both players bring their battling best. Kasatkina has to be favoured in her form and on her five-match winning streak but it would not be a surprise to see Andreescu put in a world class fightback. Take Kasatkina to win outright, or at least a set inside an accumulator.
