COCO GAUFF VS DIANA SHNAIDER PREDICTION
A former winner of this tournament having gone all the way in 2022, Coco Gauff fought her way past game challenger Wang Yafan in the second round, with the American taking both sets 6-4. The number one seed is aiming to put the memory of her recent third-round exit in the Paris Olympics behind her as she now takes on world number 23 Diana Shnaider.
It’s been a real breakthrough year for the 20-year-old Shnaider, who has won three WTA titles in 2024 and also claimed bronze in the doubles at the aforementioned Olympic Games. The Russian has been taken to three sets in both of her matches in Toronto so far, but has shown plenty of mental resilience to win deciding set tie-breaks against Harriet Dart and Magdalena Frech respectively.
Shnaider has been playing at a very high level this year but she hasn’t quite been at her best in Toronto, scraping past two unseeded players, so Gauff can be backed here to win in straight sets.
