World number nine Casper Ruud looks set to enjoy a really strong run here at Indian Wells after working hard on his hardcourt game in recent months. The 25-year-old brings a serious 13-3 record into the desert after reaching back-to-back finals in Mexico, finishing runner-up to Jordan Thompson in Los Cabos and Alex de Minaur in Acapulco, and wins over that span against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Ben Shelton and Holger Rune suggest he should need top 10 quality to oust him. 25-year-old Lukas Klein should not be underestimated after enjoying an excellent surge of form this year. The Slovak will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 126th after beating fellow qualifier Nicolas Moreno de Alboran to build on some strong qualifying but this should be far too steep of a step up in quality. Back Ruud to win in straight sets, although outright would be the sensible concession for an accumulator.
