World number eight Casper Ruud finished runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz here at the Miami Open two years ago, his only Masters final to date, and he should be considered a dark horse for a deep run after thoroughly improving his hardcourt game in 2024. The 25-year-old was edged out of the quarter-finals at Indian Wells in three sets by an impressive Tommy Paul but recent wins over the likes of Gael Monfils, Holger Rune and Ben Shelton say he can blast past the young Frenchman comfortably.
