CASPER RUUD VS FRANCISCO CERUNDOLO PREDICTION
Three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud kicks off Team Europe’s challenge as they seek to end Team World’s grip on the Laver Cup, with the latter having won the last two editions of the event.
Ruud certainly has the pedigree to give Europe a strong start here, as the Norwegian has never lost at this event, beating Reilly Opelka (2021), Jack Sock (2022) and Tommy Paul (2023) in his three contests. Cerundolo, meanwhile, is making his second appearance at the event after the Argentine defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina last year.
In terms of recent form, both players experienced middling Davis Cup outings but Ruud performed better at the US Open last month. Their career head-to-head is tied at three wins apiece (one each on hard courts) but we’re backing Ruud – aided by his greater Laver Cup experience – to get Team Europe off to a winning start here.
