Caroline Wozniacki is enjoying an excellent week so far at the US Open as the 34-year-old Dane has cruised through her open three rounds. She has lost just 12 games across all three matches so far as she has comfortably outplayed Nao Hibino, Renata Zarazua and Jessika Ponchet en route to the round of 16.
One counter point to her form is the quality of opponents and this clash with Beatriz Haddad Maia is certainly then toughest test she will have faced in New York.
Beatriz Haddad Maia had to overcome 15th seed Anna Kalinskaya in the third round but she did so impressively. Despite serving five double faults, she hammered the Russian 6-3 6-1 and that will only serve to boost her confidence further.
The bookies have this match pretty even but we have a clear preference for Haddad Maia. She has been the more active of the two of late and as the intensity in New York ramps up, we think that will benefit her. Wozniacki has yet to face any real quality so far and we just expect Haddad Maia to edge sharpness and energy to get the win.
