THE PREDICTION

Former world number four Caroline Garcia looks in pole position to claim the ninth WTA title of her career today, just a month since claiming her eighth at the Bad Homburg Open, in this winnable final against Ana Bogdan. The 28-year-old stunned home favourite and world number one Iga Swiatek in three sets in the quarter-finals and she backed that up masterfully with a fierce straight-sets victory over Jasmine Paolini on Saturday. World number 108 Ana Bogdan has quietly found some strong form over the last few weeks and she is yet to drop a set this week en-route to her first ever final on tour. The 29-year-old may well have one the best backhands on the WTA tour but she will need more than that potent weapon to beat Garcia here. Garcia won their only previous meeting on tour but beating Swiatek this week is enough to suggest she can lift the Poland Open trophy this afternoon.
