THE PREDICTION

World number two Carlos Alcaraz beat Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets on Monday to back-up another solid result over Thanasi Kokkinakis. The 19-year-old reached the semi-finals here last season before an epic three-set defeat to Rafael Nadal but he went one better at the Miami Open to lift his first Masters title. Alcaraz’ year went from strength to strength soon after as he became the first player to beat Nadal and Novak Djokovic back-to-back on clay to win his second Masters title in Madrid before going on to win his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open and become the new world number one. All that may be to come for fellow youngster Jack Draper, who announced himself on the world stage on Monday by beating former world number one and fellow Brit Andy Murray with a hugely impressive performance.

Draper and Alcaraz look set to enjoy an entertaining head-to-head, perhaps rivalry, in years to come if the Brit can fulfil his clear potential and their first meeting at the Swiss Indoors was an excellent litmus test as Draper took the first set before Alcaraz fought back to win. Three sets seem likelier than two here between two contrasting styles that should make for a proper thriller. Back Alcaraz to win again this time but it would not be a surprise to see Draper evolve before our eyes in this clash.
